
July: In the newly grafted vineyards, work goes ahead to train the (Ull de Llebre) vines on
to the trellises.
 As the vertical
shoots become long enough, they are bent down and tied to the horizontal
wires forming the trellis. Just a hundred yards away from the vineyard shown
in Summer Ploughing, note how the growth of the vines grafted this year onto rootstock
that was planted last year is far superior to that of the pre-grafted stock.
The reason being the year's root growth that the stock planted this year
has not yet consolidated.
