

In late June, the vines are dusted with powdered sulphur as a further
treatment against Oidium (disease known as Melura in Catalunya).
The treatment is usually done either first thing in the morning (these photographs
were taken at 7.00am and Anton was finishing for the day) or last
thing at night. The reasons are twofold: Firstly at these times of day,
there is usually very little wind (you never see anyone dusting on a windy
day), and secondly, the vines are slightly damp from the dew, and the sulphur
adheres better to the leaves, as can be appreciated below.
