Solanes is the second wine of Cims de Porrera, a project that started as a joint venture between Catalan singer Lluis Llach, the Porrera coop and Mas Martinet. Llach has subsequently left the company to set up his own cellar.
One of the main achievements of the cellar has been to prove the huge potential of Carinyena, and under-valued variety until then. Solanes is the name given to vineyards which receive sunshine from first thing in the morning - usually east or south-east facing. This excellent value wine is ideal to drink now although it may expected to evolve positively over the next three years.
