Idoia (named after the owner’s daughter) is the first D.O. Catalunya wine I’ve listed. Perching on the edge of Penedès just below the Montserrat mountain, it is a fruity rich red aged for 13 months in new and second year French barrels. The cellar owner is also partner in Catalunya’s leading wine distributor, and with this vintage he has come up with a wine that compares favourably with many of the more illustrious names his firm distributes!
